Effect of Ukraine - Russia War on India

When a war occurs in any part of the world, it affects everyone all over the world. It affects a country economically, socially and culturally. We can relate this by the Ukraine and Russia war. The war has affected almost every country in different ways. However, the war has not affected India very much.

The direct impact of the war on India will be an increase in the prices of metal, gas, edible oils, crude oil etc., as it was expected that they will become stable after a bull run in 2021.

The impact of the war is limited to the extent of trade between Russia and India as the share of Russia in India's total trade is just 1% so it won't effect much. In fact, most of the trade was on defense weapons. Besides, India bought S-400 from Russia during the war.

So we can say that the war has not affected India so much however, it was a tough task for the Indian government to help Indian children to come back from Ukraine to India as there were 20,000 Indian medical students in Ukraine.

This brings a question in everyone's mind - WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF INDIA WOULD HAVE ENOUGH MEDICAL SEATS AND COLLEGES TO EDUCATE IT'S CHILDREN?? THEN WOULD ANY INDIAN GO ABROAD FOR EDUCATION??

As of now, there are 596 medical colleges for Modern medicine (Allopathy). The graph below shows the number of medical colleges in India from 2013 - 2022 :-

The graph clearly shows the rise in the number of medical colleges in India. However, the number of colleges are still less as compared to the population of India. There were 20,000 students who were studying medical from Ukraine. Apart from this, many students go to other countries for pursuing their MBBS. If there were enough seats in India for these students, then they would be studying in their country only and there won't be any problem to help them if any crisis occur in any part of the world as it was in Ukraine - Russia war. Moreover, inspite of having Indian money in India which can boost the development in India, the Indian money goes to foreign countries in the way of college and tuition fees.

At the end I would like to conclude by saying that, even though our Indian government did it's very best to help the Indian students to come back to India still, it is expected that by 2030, India will have one lakh additional MBBS doctors, currently having 50,000 doctors per year which clearly shows that the medical seats in India are rising very fast. Moreover, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Adityanath has said to make a medical college in every district of Uttar Pradesh which indeed will benefit many students and will reduce the number of students going abroad for pursuing MBBS.
